Probing axion dark matter with 21 cm fluctuations from minihalos

چکیده

If the symmetry breaking inducing axion occurs after inflation, large isocurvature perturbations can arise due to a different amplitude in each causally disconnected patch. This causes enhancement of small-scale density fluctuations which significantly affect evolution structure formation. The epoch small halo formation becomes earlier and we estimate abundance those minihalos host neutral hydrogen atoms result 21 cm fluctuation signals. We find that future radio telescopes, such as Square Kilometer Array, put mass bound order ${m}_{a}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}13}\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{eV}$ for simple temperature-independent model, be extended ${m}_{a}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}8}\text{ temperature-dependent mass.

Constraining dark matter through 21 cm observations

Beyond reionization epoch cosmic hydrogen is neutral and can be directly observed through its 21 cm line signal. If dark matter (DM) decays or annihilates the corresponding energy input affects the hydrogen kinetic temperature and ionized fraction, and contributes to the Lyα background. The changes induced by these processes on the 21 cm signal can then be used to constrain the proposed DM cand...

On the Detectability of the Cosmic Dark Ages: 21-cm Lines from Minihalos

In the standard Cold Dark Matter (CDM) theory of structure formation, virialized minihalos (with Tvir ≤ 10,000K) form in abundance at high redshift (z >∼ 6), during the cosmic “dark ages.” The hydrogen in these minihalos, the first nonlinear baryonic structures to form in the universe, is mostly neutral and sufficiently hot and dense to emit strongly at the 21-cm line. We calculate the emission...

Axion BEC Dark Matter

Cold dark matter axions thermalize through gravitational self-interactions and form a BoseEinstein condensate when the photon temperature reaches approximately 500 eV. Axion Bose-Einstein condensation provides an opportunity to distinguish axions from the other dark matter candidates on the basis of observation. The rethermalization of axions that are about to fall in a galactic potential well ...

Gamma rays from ultracompact primordial dark matter minihalos.

Ultracompact minihalos have been proposed as a new class of dark matter structure. They would be produced by phase transitions in the early Universe or features in the inflaton potential, and constitute nonbaryonic massive compact halo objects today. We examine the prospects of detecting these minihalos in gamma rays if dark matter can self-annihilate. We compute present-day fluxes from minihal...
